Marshfield is a town in Wood County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 811 at the 2000 census. The town has a total area of 16.6 square miles (43.0 km²), of which, 16.4 square miles of it is land and 0.06% is water. Marshfield township was established in 1875, taking its name from the city of Marshfield, Wisconsin. The name of the town is also the name of a neighboring city: Marshfield, Wisconsin The town is located on the Wisconsin River, which flows through the center of the state. It has a population of 811, with 295 households, and 233 families residing in the town. The median income for a household was $46,750, and the median family income was $54,844. The per capita income for the town was $21,316. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.4% are under the age of 18 and 6.9% are 65 or older. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.0 males. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.15. It is located near the junction of the U.S. Turnpike, the Wisconsin Turnpikes and the Wisconsin Dells, which runs through the middle of the county. The U.N. World Heritage Site is in Marshfield and is open to the public.

History

Marshfield township was established in 1875, taking its name from the city of Marshfield. The township was named after the Marshfield River, which runs through the town. It was named for Marshfield, which was founded in 18th century. The town's name was changed from Marshfield to Marshfield in 1874. It is now known as Marshfield Township, after the town's first post office. It has a population of about 2,000 people, with the majority of its residents living in the town of 1,200 people. In 1875 the township was given the name Marshfield by the state of New York. It became Marshfield township in 1876, after Marshfield became a city in 1872. The city's name is still Marshfield today, and the township is named after it, as well as several other places in New York state, including New York City and Long Island. It also has a railway station, the first of its kind in the U.S. and the second in the world, on Marshfield Road. It opened in 1878, and was named in honor of the city's founder, William Marsh. It's now called Marshfield Town, and is located in the township's eastern part. It had a railway line, which ran from 1875 to 1881. It closed in 1883, when it was replaced by a new line of tracks. It reopened in 1885, and has a post office, which opened again in 1887.

The town's population was 1,071 at the 2010 census. The population of the town is 1,082 at the 2011 census. It is the only town in the state to have a population of more than 1,000. It was the first town to be named after a president, Abraham Lincoln, who was born in the town in 1841. It has been named after the town's first postmaster, who died in 1852. It also has a post office, which was established in 1851. The current post office opened in 1854 and closed in 1876. It closed in the 1970s and was re-opened in the 1990s, when the town was once again named for a postmaster who died there. It now stands at 1,094 square miles. It had a population 1,069 at the census of 2010, when it was listed as the state's second-largest town. It's the largest town in New Hampshire, with a total population of 1,068. It lies on the New Hampshire Turnpike, one of the nation's busiest roads, and is located on the Massachusetts Turnpikes, which runs through the town. The Town's name comes from the word "turnpike" which means "turning point" or "point".
