Mondovi is a city along the Buffalo River in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,777 at the 2010 census. The city is located at 44°347N 91°4010W (44.568865, -91.669634). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.91 square miles (10.13 km²), of which, 3.82 sq miles (9.89 km²) is land and 0.09 sq miles(0.23 km²%) is water. A post office called Mondovi has been in operation since 1854. Mondovi was laid out in 1855 and named in commemoration of the Battle of Mondovì. It is located mostly within the Town of Mondovi. A small portion of the city lies within the town of Naples, which was also named after a battle in the same year. It has a population of 2,194, with 1,303 housing units. History

A post office called Mondovi has been in operation since 1854. Mondovi was laid out in 1855. The city was named in commemoration of the Battle of Mondovì. It was named after the town of Mondovi in the Italian province of Sardinia. The town is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. It has a population of around 2,000. It is located in the province of Adriana, where it was once known as Sardinia, and in the region of the same name, which was once part of Italy. The post office was established in 1854, and the town was named for Mondovi, a town in Sardinia in Italy, in the 18th century. In 1855, it was renamed Mondovi after the city's first post office, which had been established in that year. The name Mondovi means "Mondovi" in Italian. The City of Mondovi has a full-time police department, fire department, and public works department. The Police Department has an officer dedicated as a working K9 handler. City Council Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month January through October. The Finance Committee meets on the Monday before the 2 second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The Public Works Department has 6 full- time employees. The City has 7 elected city council members and one appointed city council member. The mayor is Brady Weiss, and the council members are Ginny Gunderson, Angie Risen, David Schultz, Nathan Nelson, and Gary Stanton. The city also has an All Terrain Vehicle, which it uses to patrol the city parks and the Buffalo River State Trail, which enters the city from the east. The department also owns a pure bred German Shepherd, who is certified in narcotics detection and tracking. It has two fully equipped ambulances. Mondovi EMS has two full-sized ambulances and two part-size ambulances for the city and surrounding area. The council has six full time employees and one part-time employee for Public Works. The fire department has 30 volunteers and the Public Works department has 6 employees. It also has a private ambulance service, which is run by a number of volunteers. There is no public library or fire department.
Education
The School District of Mondovi includes three schools. During the 2013-2014 school year, total enrollment was 966. There are 78 certified staff, 3 administrators, and 46 full- or part-time support staff members. Students in Five-Year-Old Kindergarten Through Grade 12 attend the city school; students participating in the Early Childhood program or the Four-year-old kindergarten program attend Anthony School. The district facilities include a complex in the city of Mondovic and another building, Anthony School, located about eight miles north of Mondovi on Highway 37. The district also includes a middle school, high school, elementary school, and middle and high school. The school district is located in the central part of the town of Mondovi, about 20 miles south of the city center. It has a population of about 2,000 people, with a population growth rate of 0.7% in the last five years. It is the largest school district in the state.
Parks and Trails
The Buffalo River State Trail runs from Mondovi to Fairchild, Wisconsin. Joseph Peterson Arboretum is a 10-acre natural area.
