Lehi

Lehi is a city in Utah County, Utah, United States. It is named after Lehi, a prophet in the Book of Mormon. The population was 75,907 at the 2020 census, up from 47,407 in 2010. The rapid growth in Lehi is due, in part, to the rapid development of the tech industry region known as Silicon Slopes. The downtown area has been designated the Lehi Main Street Historic District by the National Park Service and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The city has a total area of 26.7 square miles (69.1 km²) of which 26.3 sq miles (68.2 km²), or 1.28%, is water. The unemployment rate for Lehi was 3.0%. The job growth rate was at 2.6% and was expected to grow 54.8% over the next 10 years. Lehi has been transitioning from an agricultural economy to a technological economy. According to the Adobe website, "The Utah is focused on engineering, marketing, sales, marketing and operations for the cloud-based healthcare industry" Lehi's first hospital, which opened in June 2015, is home to about 900 employees. The first mayor of Lehi. was Silas P. Barnes, from 1853-1854. It was the sixth city incorporated in Utah. The average household size is 3.81 and the average family size was 4.08. The median age as of 2016 was 24.7.

History

Lehi is the primary city name, but also Eagle Mountain, Eagle Mtn, Saratoga Spgs, Saratoga Springs are acceptable city names or spellings, Cedar Pass, Saratoga on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Lehi, Utah. A group of Mormon pioneers settled the area now known as Lehi in the fall of 1850 at a place called Dry Creek in the northernmost part of Utah Valley. It was renamed Evansville in 1851 after David Evans, a local bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The settlement grew so rapidly that, in early 1852, Bishop Evans petitioned the Utah Territorial Legislature to incorporate the settlement. Lehi City was incorporated by legislative act on February 5, 1852. The first mayor of Lehi was Silas P. Barnes, from 1853-1854. The downtown area has been designated the Lehi Main Street Historic District by the National Park Service and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The city was the sixth city incorporated in Utah. The legislature also approved a request to call the new city Lehi, after a Book of Mormon prophet of the same name. The town is located in the Utah Valley, which is part of the U.S. state of Utah. It is located on the eastern edge of the Wasatch Range, which borders Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. It has a population of about 3,000. The population of LeHI was about 2,000 in 1852 and 2,500 in 1853. The current population is about 3.5,000, according to the city's 2010 census. The area was first settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and 1860s, and is now home to about 1,500 people.

Geography

It is located in the eastern part of the state, near the border with New Mexico and New Mexico's Piedmont region. The town has a population of 2,816. It has a climate of predominantly tropical and subtropical climate. It was the site of the first recorded human settlement in the United States. The first recorded European settlement was in 1805. It dates back to the early 19th century and is one of the oldest cities in the state. The population was 2,788 at the time of the 1900 census. The current population of the city is 2,917. It had a population growth rate of 0.7% in the year 2000. The area has a water content of 1.7%. It has an average annual rainfall of 2.2 square miles. It also has a high water content (1.7%) and an average monthly temperature of 2°C (4°F) It is the only city in New Mexico that has a temperature of more than 2°F (1°C) in the city's history.

Demographics

As of the American Community Survey (ACS) Demographic and Housing Estimates of 2016, there were 56,314 people living in the city with 14,853 housing units. An estimated 51.2% of the population was male with 48.8% female. As of 2018, the median income for a household in Lehi was $74,200. The unemployment rate for Lehi is 3.0%. The job growth rate was at 2.6% and was expected to grow 54.8 % over the next 10 years. The median age as of 2016 was 24.7 years of age. The average household size was 3.81 and the average family size was 4.08. The per capita income for the city was $25,894, including all adults and children. The estimated racial makeup of the city is 94.6%. The city is located in the Salt Lake Valley and is located on the Wasatch Front. The city has a population of 56, 314, according to the 2016 ACS estimates. The population was 94% European American, 0.1% African American, 0.5% Native American, 1.2%, Asian, 0,2% Pacific Islander, and 1.3% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.5%. The average age of the Lehi population is 24. 7 years old, and it is estimated that the median age is 24 years old. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the city's population is 56,312.

Economy

Lehi has been transitioning from an agricultural economy to a technological economy. 1 out of every 14 flash memory chips in the world is produced in Lehi. Texas Instruments announced that they would be purchasing this facility. Microsoft has an engineering department specializing in the next version of its MDOP (Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack), code-named "Park City" Ancestry.com moved its headquarters from Provo to Lehi in May 2016. Other Thanksgiving Park tenants are Oracle Corporation, Infusionsoft, Workfront, Vivint Solar, Agel Enterprises, DigiCert, Jolt and ProPay Inc. The company broke ground for the medical center in February 2014. The 23-acre campus houses a 40-bed, full-service facility with an emergency department, intensive care unit, medical imaging, cardiac lab, surgical suites, and labor and delivery. The headquarters building is located in The Corporate Center at Traverse Mountain. It is located at 3400 N. Ashton Blvd., Suite 300 Lehi, Utah 84043. Other tenants include WeLink, XanGo, Young Living, Younique, Nature's Sunshine Products also have offices in LeHI, and Workfront is based at the Thanksgiving Park complex. The hospital opened in June 2015 and is a full service facility with 40 beds, including an ER, maternity unit, and surgical suites. The medical center is located on 23 acres of land on the north side of Thanksgiving Park. It was built byIASIS Healthcare, which is a subsidiary of Microsoft.

Arts and culture

Lehi Roller Mills was featured in the 1984 film Footloose as Ren McCormack's workplace and as the site of the dance. Thanksgiving Point is a nonprofit museum complex and estate garden founded in 1995. It consists of six main attractions: the Ashton Gardens, Thanksgiving Point Golf Course, the Museum of Ancient Life, and the Butterfly Biosphere. The Hutchings Museum is a museum located near the center of Lehi. It was first established in 1955 in what is now the Lehi arts building. The museum's exhibits include a large range of displays and artifacts from Native American Culture, Rocks and Minerals, Veteran's Memorial, Lehi History, History of the Wild West, and much more. Some of the Museum's most notable artifacts are Butch Cassidy's Gun, their large collection of rocks and minerals, and Native American pottery from the 1800s and early 1900s. It is also the site for the region's only Tulip Festival, an annual Scottish Festival, annual Cornbelly's Halloween attraction, and Highland Games. In 2012, the Mills filed for bankruptcy with the intention of continuing to operate during the proceedings. In one scene, the Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow) and his wife Vi Moore (Dianne Wiest) keep a wary eye on the proceedings while standing in a field some distance away. The area is now home to a variety of fast food restaurants and a shopping center. The mill produces some 100,000 pounds of flour each day.

Education

Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) is a public technical training institution located in Lehi. MTECH offers programs of study in automotive, culinary arts, healthcare, information technology and a growing number of other industry and technical programs. Lehi public schools are part of the Alpine School District. The district has two high schools (Lehi High School and Skyridge High School), three junior high or middle schools, and ten elementary schools in the city.Challenger School is located in the Traverse Mountain area, in the Lehi area of Utah. The city is home to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Utah Air National Guard. The U.N. Peacekeeping Force is based in the town of Lehi and has a presence in several countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Philippines. The United States Air Force has a base in the village of Alpine, Utah, which is located on the Utah-Arizona border. The Air Force Reserve is based at the base and has deployed to Afghanistan and the United States in the past, as well as to the Philippines and other countries in the Middle East. The Alpine Air Force Base has a fleet of more than 1,000 military vehicles, including the F-16, F-18, F/A-18 and F-22 fighter jets. The base also has a helicopter squadron that flies over the city, which has been in service since the 1950s. The Lehi Air Force base has a squadron of F-15 fighter jets that flies into and out of the base.

Infrastructure

I-15 runs through Lehi, with five exits. The Utah Transit Authority operates a bus system that reaches into the city. Work on the FrontRunner South commuter rail began in August 2008, and the Lehi station opened for service on December 12, 2012. I-15 construction began in the spring of 2018. The project is contracted to be completed by October 2020 and updates can be found online. The Lehi train station is located near Thanksgiving Point, near the city's main street, Lehi Main Street. The train station was completed in December 2012 and opened to the public in December 2013. The FrontRunner is a commuter rail service that runs from Salt Lake City to San Diego, California. The station is on the U.S. Highway System's FrontRunner line, which runs from San Diego to Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is the only station on that line that is not located in the San Francisco Bay Area or the San Diego Bay Area. It opened on December 11, 2013, and is located on the West Side of San Diego. It has a station on the East Side, which is on San Diego's East Side and the West side of Salt Lake County. It was completed on December 17, 2013. It will be the first station on this line to open on the east side of the city, and it will be located near San Diego and the San Jose border. The line will connect to the West and the East sides of the Salt Lake Valley on the west side.
