Pearl City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Ewa District and City & County of Honolulu on the Island of Oahu. As of the 2010 Census, the CDP had a total population of 47,698. Waimalu borders Pearl City to the east, while Waipahu borders the west. The U.S. postal code for Pearl City is 96782. In the early 1880s, Pearl City was the final stop for Benjamin Franklin Dillingham's Oahu Railway, a mud wagon driven by a four-horse team. Near the outskirts of Pearl City, the Remond Grove, an area where people could be entertained with piano, banjo, trumpet, and saxophone performances, was a popular entertainment spot in the early 1900s. Pearl City public schools include the Pearl City Complex, Manana, Momilani, Palisades, Waimu Highlands, and Pearl City Highlands. The United States Postal Service operates Pearl City Post Office in Pearl City. It is located at 21°24'30" North, 157°58'1" East (21.408333, 157.966902). History

Early-day Pearl City had an array of rice paddies and fields that were plowed with water buffalo that would haul a two-wheeled cart. In the early 1880s, Pearl City was the final stop for Benjamin Franklin Dillingham's Oahu Railway, a mud wagon driven by a four-horse team. Lots for an as-yet-to-exist "Pearl City" went on sale in 1889, after completion of the actual rail line. Near the outskirts of Pearl City, the Remond Grove, an area where people could be entertained with piano, banjo, trumpet, and saxophone performances, was a popular entertainment spot in the early 1900s. The city was named after the town of Pearl, Hawaii, which was on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian state of Kaua'i, where the city was founded in 1788. The town was named for the city's first mayor, Benjamin Franklin, who was born in 1787. The current mayor, Neil Abercrombie, was the son of Benjamin Franklin and the daughter of James Abercram, a former mayor of Honolulu who was killed in a plane crash in 1846. He was the grandson of the former mayor, who died in 1852 at the age of 24. The name "Pearls City" was used to refer to a town in the state's early history. The word "Pearles" means "Pearling" in Hawaiian. The "Pearle" in the city name means "the place" or "place of the pearl" in Spanish.

As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the WaimAlu CDP is now in the Pearl city CDP and the Highlands Intermediate School is in the Highlands CDP as of the 2000 U.S. Census. The Honolulu Public Library system operates thePearl City Regional Library, which began operations on November 15, 1969. It is located on the island of Oahu in the city of Honolulu. The library is part of the Hawai'i State Public School System, which operates public schools in Oahu and the islands of Kaua'i, Oahu, Molokai, and Moloka'i. They also won the final game of the series, beating the North Carolina-based team by a margin of 3-2.
