Mesilla Park is a neighborhood on the south side of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Residents founded the community through a land company in 1887. The neighborhood adjoins University Park, the site of New Mexico State University. Mesilla Park still has its own post office with ZIP code 88047, which opened in 1892. It was an independent settlement, though it was eventually annexed by LasCruces. The community grew after the university was founded in 1889, and it has a ZIP code of 88048. It has a population of about 2,000. It is located near the intersection of I-40 and I-20, which runs through the center of the city. It also has a post office, with ZIP codes 88046 and 88049. The ZIP code is also used for the city's international airport, which is located on the other side of the highway. It still has a police station, with a post code of 98047.
