Lorena is a small city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,785 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is named after one of the town's first settlers' oldest daughter, Lorena Westbrook, although its original name was "Aerl Station" after town's founder, Daniel Aerl. The City of Lorena is served by the Lorena Independent School District. The Lorena Leopards are the only team in the Texas Rangers' Texas-Louisiana State Series of Frisbee Frisbees, which runs from August to December. The team is based in the town of Waco, where it has won the state championship three times in the last five years.
