Brandon is a city in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 11,048 as of the 2020 census. The city is located along the Big Sioux River and Split Rock Creek. The Big Sioux Recreation Area is a state recreation area with many hiking and biking trails and bridges over the river, as well as camping sites and playgrounds. The high school opened in September 2013 and serves students in grades 7-12. The Middle School was added because Brandon's population had been increasing exponentially and the middle school's capacity was reaching capacity. Students in Brandon can enroll at any school district, regardless of district boundaries, as South Dakota allows parents to enroll their students at any district regardless of the district boundaries. Students can also choose to attend a private school in South Dakota.

Infrastructure

Interstate 90, the longest interstate highway in the United States, is located along the city's northern border with Corson.
