Shawano (pronounced SHAW-no) is a city in Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States. The city has a total area of 6.67 square miles (17.28 km²) The population was 9,305 at the 2010 census. Shawano is a member of the Wisconsin Economic Progress, a county-wide economic development organization. The Shawano Municipal Airport is jointly located in the city and county with the Wisconsin Municipal Airport Association (KEZ), which has its headquarters in the town of Shawano. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the city's population will rise to 10,000 by the end of the decade, with a population growth rate of 1.7%. The city is the county seat of Shawanoe County, which has a population of 6,000. The 2010 census found the city to be 82.4% White, 0.7% African American, 12.3% Native American, 0,4% Asian, 0.,1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 2.8% from two or more races.
