It was a part of the Dower Valley Community School District until July 1, 1994, when it merged into the Boyer Valley district. The population of the city was 97 at the 2020 census, and is expected to rise to 108 by the end of the decade. The city is located in Crawford County, Iowa, along the boyer River. History

The community was named for Arion, an ancient Greek poet. The community is located on the banks of the river of the same name. It was founded in the early 20th century by a group of Greek settlers. The town is now home to a community of about 2,000 people. It is located near the town of Arion in the north of the province of Haut d'Haut, near the city of Dothan, Haut-Dhaut, and near the village of Lourdes. It has a population of about 1,000.
