Sheffield Lake is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,137 at the 2010 census. The city is located at 41°2920N 82°559W (41.488939, -82.099694). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.48 square miles (6.42 km²) The city was incorporated in 1920. The southern part split off as Sheffield Village in the 1930s. St Mark's Monastery is located in Sheffield Lake, in the care of the Archimandrite of Leontije (Alavanja) Serbian Orthodox Church is under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Archdiocese of Lorain and Steubenville. The town is located on the Ohio Turnpike, which runs through the city of Sheffield Lake and into the town of Steubing, which is in the county of Port Huron. The Turnpugnay River runs through Sheffield Lake. The turnpike passes through the center of the city, and runs into the Ohio River at the southern end of the town. The Ohio River is a tributary of the Scioto River, which flows through the southern part of the village. The village is located near the village of Steuben, where the town's name is derived from the word "Steuben" or "Steubing" which means "to the lake". The city's name means "the lake" in English and means "lake" in Serbian.
