Ider is located at 34°4214N 85°4026W (34.703941, -85.673983) The town is situated atop Sand Mountain, a few miles west of the Alabama-Georgia state line. At the 2020 census, the population was 735. The town has a total area of 5.4 square miles (14 km²), all land. Alabama State Route 75 and Alabama State Road 117 intersect in Ider. Ider hosts three annual parades: Mule Day, Homecoming, and Christmas Parade. The Ider Public Library is located in the town's central business district. It is a member of the DeKalb County School System. It has a public library, which is open to the public. It also holds a horse and mule horse and tractor festival each year on Labor Day. It holds a Christmas Parade every year on December 25. It was founded in 1973 by a group of Ider Homemakers Club members who wanted to create a community library. The first librarian was a woman with a degree in Library Science who volunteered many hours to organize the library. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.4 square miles (14 km²), all land. Alabama State Route 75 andAlabama State Route 117 intersect in Ider. The town's population is 2,816. It is located on the Alabama/Georgia border. It has a population of 2,715. It was founded in the early 1900s, and was named after the town of Ider, Alabama, which is located in the same region of the state. Ider is a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama and is located near the Georgia-Alabama state line, near the junction of Alabama and Georgia State Routes 75 and 117. It also has a small population of about 1,000. It lies at the base of Sand Mountain and is known for its whitewashed homes. It's located at the foot of the mountain, and is surrounded by pine and oak trees. The population is about 2,800. It had a population in the 1950s, when it was first founded. The town is located on the U.S. Census Bureau's American West Coast Ranges, and is located near the junction of the New Mexico and Texas states of Wyo. and Wyo.-Laurel. It is the only town in the state to have a post-secondary degree from the University of Wisconsin-Ipswich. It was the first town to be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1881. The state's first post-post-secondary school was opened in 1883. It has been the site of the town's only high school since 1885. It also has the only post- secondary school in the U.-S. that is still open today. The school was closed in the 1990s because of the construction of a new post-high school, which was built in the early 1990s. The post-graduate program was also shut down in the late 1990s due to a lack of funding. In the 2000 census, there were 664 people, 282 households, and 192 families residing in Ider. There were 310 housing units at an average density of 57.1 per square mile (22.0/km²).

Education

The Ider Homemakers Club came up with the idea of creating a community library around 1994. The Ider City Council facilitated the successful applications for county and state grants for funding the creation and operation of the new community facility. The regulations stated that someone with a degree in Library Science had to set up the library. Mrs. Virginia Adams was the first librarian. Ider High School is a member of the DeKalb County School System. The library is located at 10808 AL HWY 75 in Ider, Alabama.

Culture and tourism

Ider hosts three annual parades. The Mule Day Parade takes place in September on Labor Day. The Homecoming Parade usually takes place during the month of October. The Christmas parade takes place every year in December. Ider Town Park has a lighted walking trail, a picnic area, tennis courts, baseball fields, a playground, and a stage. The Ider High School Band is part of the Christmas Parade. The Town Park also has a tennis court, baseball field, playground, a stage, and an antique tractor and car show. The town is home to the Ider Junior High School football team, which plays its Homecoming game in October. It is also home to Ider Middle School, where the football team plays their Homecoming games in October and November. It also hosts a number of other activities, such as a horse and mule pull and a car show, as well as a festival known as Mules Day on September 4. The city is also known for its horseback riding, which takes place on September 6 and 7 each year. It has a large number of historical sites, including the town hall, the town square, and the town cemetery. It was the site of the first U.S. Civil War Battle of Ider, which took place in 1864. It's also the location of the town's first post office, which was established in 1872. It still has a post office and a postmaster. It hosts a lot of festivals, including Mule day and Christmas.

Notable person

Todd Greeson is a member of the Alabama House of Representatives since 1998. He is known for his work on the state's budget. He also served as a state senator from 1982 to 1988. He was elected to the House in 1998 and served until 2011. He has served in the House since 1998 and was elected in 2000. He served his first term in the state Senate in 2002. He lost his re-election bid in 2010. He currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee. He previously served on the Senate Appropriations Committee from 2003 to 2010. His wife, Amy, is a former state senator. She served as the Senate majority leader in the 1990s and has served since 2010. She is married to former state Sen. Bob Greesan. She has served as an Alabama state senator since 2001 and is currently serving her third term. She was first elected in 2002 and served her first term as a senator in 2007. She lost her seat in the Senate in 2010 and has since served two terms in the State House. She also served a second term as the House majority leader from 2007 to 2011.
