Vincent is a city in Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. At the 2020 census, the population was 1,982. The community was first known as Propel, but later named Vincent in honor of the Vincent family, who were early settlers of the area. The city is located at 33°239N 86°2436W (33.385719, -86.409919) and has a total area of 20.0 square miles (51.7 km²), of which 19.6 sq miles (50.7 sq km²) is land and 0.39 sq mi (1.0 sq km) is water. The estimated median annual income for a household in the town was $43,125. In August 2022, the city council disbanded its three-member police department following an incident where a racist text on social media was circulated on the city's Facebook page. The mayor-Council form of government operates under a Mayor-Council government. U.S. Route 231 is the main highway through the city, leading northeast 17 mi (27 km) to Pell City. U.S. Route 231 is the main highway through the city, leading northeast 17 mi (27 km) to Pell City and southwest 3 mi (5km) to Harpersville. Alabama State Route 25 also runs through the town, splitting off from US 231 north of town and leading northwest 7 mi (11 km)to Sterrett. The U.N. World Heritage Site is in the town of St. Vincent, which is located on the Alabama-Mississippi state line. It is the only place in the world where the American Red Cross operates a rescue center. The Red Cross has a mission to help people in need of food and shelter in the state of Alabama. It also has a shelter for the homeless and has a food pantry for the elderly. It has a water treatment facility for the city.
