Sylvester is the county seat of Worth County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,188 at the 2010 and at 5,865 (2019) census. It is claimed to be the Peanut Capital of the World due to its peanut production. The city is located at 31°3153N 83°5010W (31.531425, -83.836233). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.7 square miles (15 km²), of which 5.8 square miles of it is land and 0.04 sq miles (0.10 km²) is water. The Peanut Festival is an annual event held on the third weekend of October in T.C. Jeffords Park to celebrate the city's status as Peanut capital of the world. The event is sponsored by Peter Pan Foods, makers of Peter Pan peanut butter. Sylvester is located on U.S. Highway 82 at the junction of Georgia State Route 33. Georgia State route 256 enters into southeast Syvester, where it is co-designated Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. In 2000, there were 5,990 people, 2,151 households, and 1,537 families residing in the city. As of the 2020 United States census, there are 5,644 people and 2,346 households. History

Sylvester was platted in 1893. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Sylvester as a town in 1898. The town has a population of about 1,000. It is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, which flows into the Chattooga River. It was incorporated as a city in 1898 by the General Assembly of Georgia. The city is named after a former mayor of the same name, who died in 1894. It has a total population of 1,071,000, with the majority of its residents living in the town of about 2,000 people. It also has a number of unincorporated areas, which were incorporated as towns in 1898 and 1910 respectively.

It is also located at the intersection of Georgia State routes 33 and 256, which is also called "Martin Luther King Drive" The city's population was 5,715 at the 2010 census. It had a population of 5,816 at the time of the 2010 Census. It has a population estimate of 6,817 at the 2014 census. The town is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, a unit of the National Park Service. It was named after a 19th-century abolitionist leader, William "Bill" C. Arts and culture

The Peanut Festival is an annual festival held on the third weekend of October in T.C. Jeffords Park. The event is sponsored by the Sylvester/Worth Chamber of Commerce and ConAgra Foods, makers of Peter Pan peanut butter. Activities include one of the largest parades in the southeast and a beauty pageant with up to 100 contestants. Craftsmen from all over the state come to Sylvesters to showcase their creations at the festival. Live entertainment and carnival attractions are usually on hand as well. The festival is held to celebrate the city's status as Peanut Capital of the World.

The Worth County School District holds pre-school to grade twelve, and consists of two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. The district has 296 full-time teachers and over 4,354 students. It is located in the central part of the county, near the town of Worth, and the county seat of Worth County, which is in the east. It has a population of over 3,000. It was founded in 1872. The school district has been in the same location since 1872, when the first school was built. The first elementary school was opened in 1876. The current elementary school opened in 1998. It holds pre school to grade 12.
