Pendergrass is a city in Jackson County, Georgia, United States. The town was chartered by an act of the Georgia Legislature on December 30, 1890. The community was named after J. B. Pendergrass, a local physician. The city has a total area of 3.1 square miles (7.9 km²), of which 0.04 sq miles (0.1 km²) is water. It is bordered to the southeast by Jefferson, the county seat, and to the northwest by Talmo. U.S. Route 129 passes through the northeast side of the city, leading northwest 14 miles (23 km) to Gainesville and southeast through Jefferson 24 miles (39km) to Athens. The population was 1692 at the time of the 2020 census, and is expected to rise to 16,000 by the end of the decade. It has a population of 431 as of the census of 2000, with 156 households, and 117 families residing in the city. The average household size was 2.76, and the average family size was 3.12. The per capita income for the city was $11,699, with about 9.3% of families and 15.9% of the population under the age of 18 living below the poverty line. History
The town was chartered by an act of the Georgia Legislature on December 30, 1890. The community was named after J. B. Pendergrass, a local physician. The town has a population of about 1,000 people. It is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, which runs through the center of the town. It was named for a local doctor, who was a member of the community's first council. The city's name is in honor of J.B. Pendersgrass, who founded the town in 1890.

U.S. Route 129 passes through the northeast side of the city, leading northwest 14 miles to Gainesville and southeast through Jefferson 24 miles (39 km) to Athens.According to the United States Census Bureau, Pendergrass has a total area of 3.1 square miles (7.9 km²), of which 0.04 square miles. (0.1 km²) is water. The city is part of the Middle Oconee River watershed. It has a population of 1.4 million (1.5 million in 2010). It is located on the banks of the Mississippi River, which flows through Jackson County. The town is located near the junction of the Oconaluftee River and the Little Oconala River. It is also near the intersection of the Black Creek and Black Creek Rivers, which flow through the city. It also is near the Little Black River and Little Black Creek, which runs through the town of Talmo and into the Black River. Pender Grass is located at 34.951 N 83.4052 W, and has a elevation of 34.164 N. According to the U.N. World Census, the city's population is 1.3 million (9.2 million in 2000).

The library is open until late at night, when it closes for the day. It also has a museum, which houses a collection of photographs of the local area, as well as a small museum of local history. The town is located on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers base, which was established in the early 1900s. It was the site of a Civil War encampment.
