Eden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Somerset County, Maryland, United States. The Eden zip code (21822) also includes parts of Wicomico and Worcester counties. The population was 793 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.6 square miles (15 km²) The CDP is located at 38°1642N 75°3909W and has a population of 793. The median income for a household in the C DP was $34,408. The per capita income for the community was $13,716. Only one route has a stop in the community, which is at the intersection of Eden-Allen Road:Route 2: Princess Anne and Delmar. The community is also served by the commuter bus service of the lower Eastern Shore, Shore Transit.
Geography
Eden is located at 38°1642N 75°3909W.According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.6 square miles (15 km²) of which 5.5 square miles is land and 0.04 square miles. (0.71%) is water. The CDP is located in the eastern part of the town of Eden, which was once known as Eden Valley. The town is located on the Santa Cruz River, which runs through the center of the city. It was once called Eden Valley, and is now called Eden, after the town's first postmaster. It has a population of 1,856. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that Eden has a resident population of 2,854. The population of Eden was 2,744 at the 2010 Census. It is the most populous CDP in the state, with a total population of 3,836. The city's population was 1,938 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 1,732 at the 2000 Census. The area has an elevation of 5,841.5 feet (1,741.2 meters) and a population density of 4,838.5 people per square mile (2,743.5 per square kilometer). It is one of the smallest CDPs in the country, with an area of just over 5,000 square miles, or 5.7 square miles ($15,000 km²).

Transportation
Eden is located on U.S. Route 13 at the intersection of Eden-Allen Road, south of the Wicomico County border and the US 13: Salisbury Bypass. It is also served by the commuter bus service of the lower Eastern Shore, Shore Transit. Only one route has a stop in the community, which is at the intersection of Eden-Allen Road: Route 2: Princess Anne and Delmar. The community has a population of about 2,000 people. The town is located in the eastern part of the Eastern Shore region of the state of Maryland, and is on the eastern edge of the Chesapeake Bay. It was founded in the early 1900s by the residents of Eden, who moved to the area from the nearby town of Salisbury, where they had lived since the 1800s. In the early 20th century, Eden was the site of the first European settlement in the area. It has been home to a number of historic sites, including the birthplace of George Washington and his son, George II. The village is also known for its beautiful beaches, which were first discovered in the mid-19th century. It also has a historic cemetery, which dates back to the 17th century and is located near the town's original site. The current mayor of Eden is the son of a former mayor of the same name, who was killed in a car accident in the town in the 1950s. He was buried in a shallow grave near the community.
