Moosic is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, 6 miles (10 km) south of downtown Scranton and 13 miles (21 km) northeast of downtown Wilkes-Barre. The population was 5,972 at the 2020 census. The name Moosic probably derives from the Unami language of the Lenape people, meaning "elk place". The borough was incorporated on December 9, 1898. The Scrantons/Wilkes-barre RailRiders are a Triple-A Minor League Baseball team. They are a farm team of the New York Yankees and play at PNC Field. The major daily newspaper in MoosIC is The Times-Tribune of Scrant on the Lackawannas River. The main television studios of WNEP-TV, the local ABC-TV affiliate, are located in Mosic. The borough is in a former coal-mining region. A few older industries existed at one time, including the manufacturing of canvas gloves and silk products. In 2008, a water park was built on the grounds of Montage Mountain ski resort. In 2005, a plan to build a large outdoor shopping mall near the theater was announced. In 2007, The Shoppes at Montage were completed in 2007, consisting of an open-air, outdoor plaza housing over forty stores and restaurants. The former grounds of Rocky Glen Park, an amusement park, are now a Pennsylvania state historical marker. The borough was incorporated on December 9, 1898. From 1886 to 1987, Rocky Glen Park, an amusement park, was the site of the former grounds. The former grounds are now a Pennsylvania state historical marker. The name "Moosic" means "Elk Place" in Lenape and means "place of elk" in Unami. The town was once a part of Lackawanna Township, Pennsylvania. It is now part of the city of Wilkes-Barre and the borough of Scranton. The city was once part of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, and the village of Greenwood was part of it. It was incorporated as a borough in 1898, and later became a city in 1903. It has a population of about 3,000 people. The community was once known as the "Town of Moosics" or "The Town of the Mooosies" by the Lenapes. The word "Mooosic" is now used to refer to the town of Wiltshire in Pennsylvania, where it was once the county seat. It also means "melting place" in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, which was once called "The County of the Moosies". The town's name means "mooosie" in English. It means "little or no place".

The borough is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which runs from New Jersey to New Jersey. It is one of the few towns in New Jersey that does not have a major airport. It has a population of about 5,000, making it one of only a handful of towns in the state with more than 1,000 people living in it. It was the site of the U.S. Civil War, when the Battle of the Bulge took place in 1875. The town was founded in 1876.

Riverside School District serves residents of Moosic and neighboring Taylor. High school students attend Riverside Jr.-Sr. High School for grades 7-12, which is located across the Lackawanna River in Taylor. Riverside is known for its high school football rivalry with neighboring Old Forge. The two schools are "archrivals", who have "arguably the most fierce rivalry in the Lackawedanna Football Conference." Old Forge leads head-to-head with a record of 32-30-4. Riverside Elementary East serves for 3rd,4th,5th,and 6th grade, while Riverside Elementary West serves for Kindergarten,1st,and 2nd grade. The district also has two elementary schools, which serve both Moosics and Taylor residents. The district has two high schools, Riverside Junior-Senior High School and Riverside Jr-Sr High School, both of which are located in the town of Taylor. The high school district has three elementary schools: Riverside East, Riverside West, and Riverside Middle School. It also has a middle school, Riverside Middle, and a high school, which are all in the city of Mooosic. It is the only school district in the county to have two elementary and high school schools in the same town. The elementary schools are located on the same site as the high school.
