Liverpool is a lakeside village in Onondaga County, New York, United States. Its population was 2,347 at the 2010 census. The name was adopted from the city of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. The area was originally inhabited by the Iroquois, starting in the 16th century. The Lucius Gleason House and Liverpool Cemetery are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Liverpool was also a cigar manufacturing center during the 1890s. In 1918, the Oswego Canal was closed. Liverpool is at 43°621N 76°1234W (43.105967, -76.209564) The village has an area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), all land. The New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) passes through the northern part of the village. It is home to the Salt Museum and the East Shore Recreation Trail. The park is one of the most prominent locales in Liverpool, known for its several trams that travel the length of the park. The lake park is a county park on the eastern shore of Ononaga Lake outside of Syracuse.
