Aledo (-LEE-doh) is a city in Parker County, Texas, United States.The population was 4,858 in 2020.The city is served by the Aledo Independent School District.The Parker post office was established in 1880 by Littleberry Rudolph Fawks. Two years later the name was changed to Aledo, likely suggested by a Texas & Pacific Railway official for Aledo, Illinois. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km²), all land. As of the 2020 United States census, there were 1,564 households, and 1,219 families residing in the city. Notable people include David Barton, a writer and journalist known for his books on Texas history and his research into the Slocum Massacre. Bill Paxton, actor and director, lived in Aledo before moving to Fort Worth, Texas. Sloan Struble, known for indie pop project Dayglow, is from Aledo. The city is also home to the Texas Museum of Natural History, a museum dedicated to the history of the Texas Rangers, and the Texas State Museum of Fine Arts, which was founded in 1872. It is located on the Texas Turnpike, which runs from San Antonio to Austin. The City of Aledo is part of the San Antonio-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes the cities of Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin-Round Rock.
History
Aledo is the primary city name, but also Annetta, Annetta N, Annetta S, Willow Park are acceptable city names or spellings, Fort Worth on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Aledo, Texas. The Parker post office was established in 1880 by Littleberry Rudolph Fawks. Two years later the name was changed to Aledo, likely suggested by a Texas & Pacific Railway official for Aledo. Post office established May 25, 1882 as Aledo by postmaster Eli J. McConnell. The post office is located in the town of Parker, Illinois, on the Illinois-Illinois border. The Parker Post Office is located at the intersection of Parker Road and the Illinois Turnpike. It is located on the former route of the Illinois and Illinois Railroad, which was built in the 1880s and 1890s. The current post office building was built on the site of a former post office in the early 1900s. It was built by the Illinois & Illinois Railroad and is now known as the Parker Post Post Office. The name Parker was first used in 1882 by a postmaster named Eli McConnell, and the name Aledo was used two years later by the Texas and Pacific Railway. The town was originally known as Parker, but the name has since been changed to the current Parker. It has a population of about 2,000, with the majority of its residents living in the Parker section of the town, which is in the northern part of the county. It also has a small portion of the Aledo section, in the southern part of Illinois, that was once called Aledo and was once known as "Aledo-on-the-Peculier" or "Aledo-on the Peculiar".

It is the only city in the state to have a population of more than 1,000. The population of the town was 1,071 at the 2010 census. The town has a history dating back to the 18th century. It was the site of the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in 1881. It has been the scene of numerous battles between Native Americans and white settlers since the mid-1800s, including several battles in the 1800s and early 1900s.

The town's population has been growing since the early 1900s, when it had just 1,000 people. It was the first city to be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1913. It received its first post-WWII status in 1924. It became a city in 1929, and was named after a local resident. It had its first public school in 1929. It opened its doors in 1930, and has been a city since then, along with a number of other nearby towns and villages. It suffered a devastating fire that destroyed much of its downtown area in the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1980s and 1990s, the city was the site of a major construction project.
