Dillsburg is a borough in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,643 as of the 2020 census. The town is named for Matthew Dill, an immigrant from County Monaghan, Ireland, who settled the town in 1740. During the Civil War's Gettysburg Campaign, Dillsburg was twice invaded by Confederate cavalry, first by Albert G. Jenkins's brigade, and then by Maj. Gen. J.E.B. Stuart's division. The borough has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), all of it land. It is surrounded by Carroll Township in northwestern York County, According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough had a population of 2,063 people, 902 households, and 579 families living in the borough in 2000. The median income for a household in the Borough was $37,530, and the median income. for a family was $46,797. Geography

Dillsburg is surrounded by Carroll Township in northwestern York County, Pennsylvania. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), all of it land. The borough is home to the Dillsburg High School, a public high school, and a junior high school. The high school is located in the borough and is part of the Carroll Township School District. The school has a football field, a baseball field, and an ice hockey rink. It is also the site of the Pennsylvania State Fair. The town's name is derived from the town's motto, "Dillburg is a town of dills" which means "dills" or "ditch" in German. The Dillsberg High School was founded in 1881. It was the first high school in the state, and the first elementary school in York County. It has a high school and junior high, which are both part of Carroll Township. It also has a middle school, which was established in 1883. The Borough's name comes from the borough's founder, William Dillburg, who was born in the town in 1876. The city's nickname is "dillburg" or 'dills' in German, and it is also known as "Dillingburg" in English and "dilling" in French. History

The town is named for Matthew Dill, an immigrant from County Monaghan, Ireland, who settled the town in 1740. The village became a center for local agriculture. During the Civil War's Gettysburg Campaign, Dillsburg was twice invaded by Confederate cavalry, first by Albert G. Jenkins's brigade, then by Maj. Gen. J.E.B. Stuart's division.Dill's Tavern, founded in the 1750s with a current building constructed between 1794 and 1819, and the Rev. Anderson B. Quay House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town is located on the banks of the Susquehanna River, which flows into the Little Rappahannock River. It is the site of one of the largest coal mines in the United States, with a capacity of more than 1,000,000 tons per year. It was also the location of the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place between 1863 and 1864. The city is home to the National Museum of American History, which was opened in 1869. It also houses the National Park Service, which is based in the nearby town of Dillingham, Pennsylvania, and has a museum of American Civil War memorabilia, including the Gettysburg Battlefield, which dates back to 1866. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has a depot in the town that was built in the late 19th century and is still in use today. It has a post office that opened in the early 20th century.

The borough is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which runs from New Jersey to New Jersey. It is the only borough in New Jersey that does not have a post office, but does have a number of other services such as post offices, post offices and other government offices. The town's name is derived from the word "town" or "town", which means "place" in English. It was also known as "Town of the Big Apple" and "Towns of New Jersey" before the turn of the 20th century. The fair runs through the end of the month and costs about $10 per person, with most of the food being available for purchase at Dill's Tavern, a local souvenir shop. It also features a classic car and farm tractor parade on Saturday afternoon, and Civil War reenactments at the nearby Dill's tavern. The Farmers Fair ends on the last day of the fair, which is the last Saturday in October, with a fireworks display at 4 p.m. and a fireworks show at 6 p.M. on Sunday. It costs $10 to attend the Farmers Fair and is held at the city's Civic Center, which was built in the 1800s and is located on the former site of a former mill site.
