Wellsboro

Wellsboro is a borough in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. It is located 52 miles (84 km) northwest of Williamsport. The population was 3,472 at the 2020 census. Wellsboro was settled in 1806 and incorporated in 1830 and was named in honor of Mary Wells, wife of one of the original settlers, Benjamin Wistar Morris. The town was the home of George W. Sears (1821 1890), a sportswriter for Field & Stream magazine in the 1880s and an early environmentalist. In 1900, 2,945 people lived here; in 1910, 3,183 lived here. The Robinson House, Jesse Robinson House, Wellsboro Armory, and Wellsboro Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic. Places. The borough is home to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was also the site of the first factories where light bulbs were mass-produced, using machines whose design remains essentially unchanged from the early 20th century when the Corning company established the plant in the town. In the borough the population was spread out, with 20.9% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 24.1%.

History

Wellsboro was settled in 1806 and incorporated in 1830. The town was the home of George W. Sears (1821 1890), a sportswriter for Field & Stream magazine in the 1880s. Sears popularised self-guided canoe camping tours of the Adirondack lakes. Wellsboro was also the site of one of the first factories where light bulbs were mass-produced, using machines whose design remains essentially unchanged from the early 20th century when the Corning company established the plant in the town. The Robinson House, Jesse Robinson House, Wellsboro Armory, and Wellsboro Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Wellsboro Public Library is located in the heart of the town and is open to the public on weekdays. The library has a collection of more than 2,000 books, many of which have been donated to the library by private donors. The public library also has a lending library of about 1,500 books, some of which were donated by the Wellsboro community in the 1930s and 1940s. It is possible to obtain a copy of the library's collection for free by sending a check to the town post office or post office. The bank has a donation fund of about $1,000, which can be used to buy books and other items from the town's public library. It also has an online book collection of about 2,500 items, which is available for purchase on its website for $1.50 per book.

The borough is part of the New Jersey Bay Area, which is also part of New Jersey and New Jersey. It is located in the New York City metropolitan area, and the New Haven metropolitan area. It has a population of 3,816. It also has a small section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which runs through the borough. The town's population is 2,817. It was the site of the first recorded human settlement in 1805. It had a population in 1807. It's located in New Jersey's Poughkeepsie borough, which was founded in 1808. It lies in the Susquehanna River watershed, which drains into the Delaware River. It contains the town of Millville. It  has a latitude of 41.4 degrees north and a longitude of 77.7 degrees south. It has an elevation of 41° 4448 miles (77°187 miles) and a wide area of 1,822.7 miles (2,823.7 kilometers) of land. It includes the towns of  Millville, Millville and Millville Junction, as well as Millville Township.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,328 people, 1,469 households, and 866 families residing in the borough. The population density was 681.0 people per square mile (262.8/km²). There were 1,602 housing units at an average density of 327.8 per squaremile (126.5/ km²) The racial makeup of the borough was 98.14% White, 0.39% African American, 0,18% Native American,0.90% Asian, 0.,18% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.57% of the population. The median income for a household in the Borough was $30,169, and the median income. for a family was $39,898. The per capita income for the borough is $18,096. About 9.5% of families and 14.8% of those under the age of 18 were below the poverty line, including 19.8%. The borough is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which connects to New Jersey and New Jersey via the Raritan River and the Susquehannock River. It is the only borough in the state to have a post office, which opened in 1881. The borough has a population of 3,326, making it one of the smallest boroughs in New Jersey. It has a median age of 44 years, and a population density of 681 people per capita.
