Bowman is a city and county seat of Bowman County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 1,470 at the 2020 census. The city is located at 46°1054N 103°241W (46.181791, 103.400211). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.53 square miles (3.96 km²), all land. The Köppen Climate Classification system, Bowman has a semi-arid climate, abbreviated BSk on climate maps, although it closely borders the states more typical humid continental climate (Dfb) Bowman is home to the Bowman County School District, which operates Bowman County High School, including 8K-P Radio, and Bowman County Middle School, which educates those under 18 and those over 9 years of age. The school district is also home to Bowman County Intermediate School, where the students learn to learn to read and write. The high school is located in the town of Bowman, which was founded in 1907. It is the county seat and the only town in Bowman County. The town was named after Bowman, a town in North Dakota that was once part of the Dakota Territory. It was the site of the first post office in the United States, which opened in 1859. The post office has been in operation at Bowman since 1907. In the 2010 census, there were 1,650 people, 760 households, and 422 families living in the city. History

Bowman is the primary city name, but also Buffalo Spg, Buffalo Springs are acceptable city names or spellings, Griffin, Ladd on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. Bowman was founded in 1907 at about the same time the railroad was extended to that point. The city took its name from Bowman County. A post office has been in operation at Bowman since 1907. It is the only city in New Mexico that is not on the National Highway System, which runs from New Mexico to South Dakota. The U.N. It had the fourth highest unemployment rate in the U.S. in 2012, and had the fifth highest rate in 2012. The highest rate of unemployment in 2013, with 4.7 percent. It ranks No. 1 in Bowman Co. in the region. It suffered a loss of 1,816 jobs in 2012 and 2013. It ranked No. 2 in the nation in the 2013-2014 school year.
