Vanceboro is a town in Craven County, North Carolina, United States. Its population was 1,005 at the 2010 Census. Originally called Swift Creek, residents renamed the town for Zebulon B. Vance after he visited there during his 1876 campaign for governor. It is part of the New Bern Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town has area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²) According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a population of 869 (as of the 2010 census) As of the 2020 United States census, there were 869 people, 464 households, and 318 families residing in the town. The racial makeup of the town was 73.16% White, 24.16%, African American, 0.33% Native American, and 0.56% from other races, and 1.78% from two or more races. Every year, The Vanceboro Strawberry Festival takes place in Spring, usually in early May. Festivities include a parade down Main Street, food, and games. Starting in 2006, the night before the parade there is a street dance. Food and games are located on the grounds of Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School. There is a high school, middle school, and elementary school in Vanceboro. The high school is located in West Craven High School. The elementary school is situated in WestCraven Middle School, and the middle school is in West West High School, which was founded in 1876.

Census. It is the only town in the state to have a population in excess of 1,000, according to the Census Bureau. It also has the highest percentage of people living in poverty at 1.8%. The town's population is about 2.7,000 people. It has an estimated population of 2,070 people. The city's population was 1,074 people as of 2010 the United States Census Bureau recorded it as 2,084. It's the only city in New Hampshire to have such a high percentage of its population living in the town of 3,000 or more people, compared to the national average of 2.4,844. It was the only community to have more than 1,500 people in its population at the time of the 2000 U.P. Census, and has the lowest percentage of residents living in a town of more than 3,200 people at 1,200. It had the highest rate of poverty at 2.8 percent, compared with the national rate of 2%. It has the fewest residents in the United states at 2,068 people, and the lowest rate of unemployment at 0.7%. It is one of only a handful of towns in the nation to have had a population over 1,400.

The town's population is expected to rise to 898 by the 2020 United States census. It is located in the eastern part of the state, near the state line with New Hampshire. It has an average population of 434, and a population density of 521 inhabitants per sq mile (200.6 per km²).
