Bridgehampton is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) on the South Fork of Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 1,756 at the 2010 census. The notorious criminal and memoirist Stephen Burroughs lived there during the 18th century and helped found the town's first library in 1793. Bridgehampton became the home of the horse show known as the Hampton Classic and a road racing course that figured prominently in American automobile racing. The hamlet is located at 40°5559N 72°1829W (40.933182, -72.307987).According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.6 square miles (35.3 km²), of which 13.0 square miles. (33.7 km²) is land and 0.62 sq miles (1.6 km²). The CDP also has a climate transitioning between humid continental, subtropical and maritime, with a continental environment in spite of its oceanside location. It is located near Sag Harbor, where it is possible to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from the air. The town is in the town of Southampton, on Long Island, which was founded in 1640 and is home to the University of New York at Long Island and the New York City School of Pharmacy. The city is also home to a private school, the Bridgehamptons Union Free School District.

Bridgehampton has a climate transitioning between humid continental, subtropical and maritime. Due to the cold winter lows, plant hardiness more resembles a continental environment in spite of its oceanside location. The town has a population of 1,071. It is located on the Atlantic seaboard of New England and the East Coast of the United States. The city is home to the New England Shakespeare Festival, which runs through the end of the year. It also hosts the annual New England International Film Festival, held in the town's harbor. The festival is open to the public and features live entertainment and other events. It was founded in 1876 and is one of the oldest film festivals in the U.S., along with New York City and Los Angeles. It has been named for the poet William Shakespeare, who wrote the play "The Tempest" in 1881. The village is located in the coastal town of Hampton, New Hampshire, and was named after the Hampton Roads area, which is on the east coast of New Hampshire. The community is also known as "The Hamptons" because of its proximity to the ocean.
