The West Chazy CDP has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km²), all land. New York State Route 22 passes through the hamlet, leading south 10 miles (16 km) to Plattsburgh, the county seat, and north 10 years (16km) to Mooers. The hamlet is located along the Little Chazy River, which flows northeastward to Lake Champlain. It is located 6 miles (10 km) from Chazy, which is 6 miles to the northeast along county roads. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the hamlets population at 529 in the 2010 census county designated place and 1,074 in the CDP. The CDP is located in the southwestern part of the town of Chazy, in the southern part of Clinton County and is located on New York State Routes 22 and 22A, about 10 miles south of the city of Plattsburg. The hamlets of Chazak and Mooer are located in Chazy County, about 6 miles to the northeast of the CDP, along county roads. The village of West Chazack is in the north of the county, about 10 miles from Chazy and 10 miles away from Plattsburgh. The West Chaze CDP was founded in the early 19th century.
