Weedsport is a village in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The name is from Elihu and Edward Weed, merchants who helped found the village. It was a port on the Erie Canal. Weedsport Elementary School was built in 1908. The Centreport Aqueduct was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The First Baptist Church was listed in 2002, the Orrin W. Burritt House in 2007, and the Frank and Eliza Tryon House in 2014. The village is located at 43°3N 76°34W (43.0488, -76.5628).According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.98 square miles (2.53 km²), all land. The New York State Thruway passes just north of the village, with access from Exit 40. The Erie Canal once passed through Weeds port but now follows the Seneca River one mile north ofThe village is in the town of Brutus, west of Syracuse. It is within the Central New York Military Tract. The town's address is 379 Me69 Cool Street, where a lengthy discussion was had with regard to the town's name and the titular address being located therein. As a result, the address itself became an internet meme, with the phrase "Me 69 Cool Street" used as a reference to the comedy advice podcast My Brother and My Brother, My Brother. The address itself is located on 379 Cool Street. The population was 1,815 at the 2010 census.

History

Weedsport was within the Central New York Military Tract. The village was originally named "Weed's Basin" because the town had a basin (boat turnaround) during the Erie Canal era. Weedsport Junior/Senior High School was built in 1957 and later expanded in 1967 and 2005. The Centreport Aqueduct was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The First Baptist Church was listed in 2002, the Orrin W. Burritt House in 2007, and the Frank and Eliza Tryon House in 2014. The town was incorporated in 1831 and the first post office was opened in 1832. The first high school opened in 1908 and the junior/Senior high school in 1957. The centreport aqueduct opened in 1950 and the First Baptist church opened in 2002. It was listed as a national historic site in 2000 and a state historical site in 2007. It is located on the New York State Thruway at the junction of I-87 and I-190. It has a population of about 2,000. The community is located in the town of Weedsports. The area was once known as "Weeds' Basin" and the town was part of the Central N.Y. Military T tract. The name was then changed to Weed's basin and the village was incorporated into the town in 18 31. The current name of the town is Weeds'port. The school was named after the town's first postmaster.

The Erie Canal once passed through Weedsport but now follows the Seneca River one mile north of the village. The New York State Thruway passes through the village, with access from Exit 40. The village is located in the town of Seneca, New York, on the East Coast of New York state. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the village's population to be 1,000, with most of the residents living in or near the village of 1,100. The town has a population of 2,100, with the majority of the population living in the village or nearby towns. The city's population is 1,200, with more than half of its residents living outside of the city limits. The population of the town is 2,300, with nearly all of it living outside the city of Buffalo and its surrounding towns. It is the only town in New York that is not in the Town of Genesee County, which is the state's most populous county. The per capita income for the village is $18,102. The village is located on the U.S. Highway 20 corridor, which runs through the center of the town. It is the only town in the state to have a post office, which was established in 1881. The U.N. has a consulate in the town, which opened in 1883. It was the first post office in the world to open in 1879. The post office closed in 1891. It has since been reopened in 1894. The current post office is located in the city of St. Louis. The town's name is derived from the word "st. Louis" which means "town" or "city" in French. The city's motto is "St. Louis is a city that never sleeps".
