Bevier was laid out and platted in 1858 along a new railroad line. The community was named for Kentucky native Col. Robert Bevier, who afterward became a leader of the Confederate army. Bevier was incorporated as a village on September 5, 1881, and reorganized as a city on March 16, 1889. History
Bevier was laid out and platted in 1858 along a new railroad line. The community was named for Kentucky native Col. Robert Bevier, who afterward became a leader of the Confederate army. Bevier was incorporated as a village on September 5, 1881, and reorganized as a city on March 16, 1889. A post office called Bevier has been in operation since 1858.Coal was discovered in Bevier in 1860, and coal mining was an important part of the town economy well into the 20th century. The town is located on the Ohio River, which was once a vital source of revenue for the state. The Bevier area was once known as the "Coal Capital of the United States" because of its coal mining. The city is now the site of the Bevier Coal Company, which began operations in the late 19th century and continues to operate to this day. It is also home to Bevier High School, which opened in 1859 and has a history of being one of the top high schools in the state, as well as Bevier Elementary School and Bevier Junior High School. It was named after Bevier's father, who was a Kentucky native and served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. It also has a post office, which is still in operation today. It has also been the location of a number of other businesses, including a bank, a hotel, and a bank. The village was incorporated in 1881 and was reorganized in 1889.

The town's nickname is "The Dunes" and the town's name is derived from the Dune River, which runs through the city. It was named after the town of Beevier, which was founded in the 17th century. It has a post office with the ZIP code of 394457. It also has a hospital with the same name, which opened in the 18th century as the first post office in the town, in the village of Beveier, on the site of a former post office building. The current post office has been open since the 19th century and is located on the same site as the original post office, in a building that dates back to the 16th century, in what is now known as the Beeviers Building.
