Jordan is a city in Scott County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 6,656 at the 2020 census. Jordan is home to the Jordan Brewers amateur baseball team, which took 2nd place in 2010 and 3rd place in 2009. It won the National Tournament three straight years from 2005 to 2007. The city is also home to Jordan Post #3, which won the State Tournament four straight years between 2005 and 2008. Jordan was founded on November 27, 1853, by Thomas A. Holmes, who built a sawmill. In 1860, the neighboring settlement of Brentwood was surveyed by S. A. Hooper, J. H. Gardner and R. W. Thomas. The two settlements competed until a legislative action consolidated them into the village of Jordan in 1872. In 1880 the population had boomed to 915 along with a boom in businesses in the village. History
The city of Jordan began on November 27, 1853, when Thomas A. Holmes ordered the construction of a sawmill. A year after the mill's founding, William Holmes moved to the site and began platting a settlement. Jordan City accumulated some success in 1855 and 1856 with the addition of a post office and a handful of a businesses. The neighboring settlement of Brentwood was surveyed by S. A. Hooper, J. H. Gardner and R. W. Thomas in 1860. The two settlements competed until a legislative action consolidated them into the village of Jordan in 1872. By 1880 the population had boomed to 915 along with a boom in businesses in the village. A few of these businesses were breweries, which became especially successful until prohibition in 1919 temporarily caused their closure.Jordan was finally incorporated as a city in 1891. The city was named after the Jordan River in Palestine, which is the source of the city's name. It is located on the U.S.-Mexico border and was once part of the territory of the State of New Mexico. It has a population of 915 and is currently home to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It was once the site of the largest sawmill in the United States, with a workforce of 2,000. The town's population was 1,000 in 1853 and 1,500 in 1856. The current population of Jordan is 1,200. The U.N. World Heritage Center is located in Jordan.
Geography
The architects and civil engineers known for designing the layout of the streets of Jordan, also founded the neighboring town of Belle Plaine. U.S. Highway 169, and State Highways 21 and 282 are three of the main routes in the community. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.31 square miles (8.57 km²) of which 3.29 square miles is land and 0.02 sq miles (0.05 km² is water. The city is located on the banks of the Jordan River, which runs through the center of the city. The river is a tributary of the Little Jordan River which flows through the town of Jordan. The Jordan River flows into the Little Colorado River at the north end of the town, where it is known as "Jordan's River" The river was once known as the "Jordan River" because of the large amount of water in the area. It is now called the "Little Colorado River" due to the large number of small rivers in the town. The town is located in the Upper Colorado River valley, which was once the source of the Colorado River. The Colorado River once ran through the city, but now runs through a new section of the community called "Jordan Springs" The town has a population of 2,000, with the majority of its residents living in the city of Jordan Springs, which is located just south of the river. The population of the surrounding area is about 1,000.

There were 1,961 housing units at an average density of 596.0 per square mile (230.1/km²) The racial makeup of the city was 92.4% White, 0.6% African American, 0,8% Native American, 1.3% Asian, 2.4%. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.5% of the population. The median age in theCity was 31.8 years. The city is located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is based in Fort Worth, Texas. It is one of the largest military bases in the state, with more than 2,000 personnel. The U.N. has a presence in the City of Fort Worth as well as the Fort Worth Army and Fort Worth Air Force bases. It has a population of 5,000. The population was 5,400 at the time of the 2010 census, and 5,500 at the 2000 census. The 2010 census was based on a population estimate of 3,833 people, with 1,423 housing units. The gender makeup was 50.0% male and 50.1% female. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.35. The age of the average resident was 34, with 34% under the age of 18, 32.9% between the ages of 25 and 44, and 20.8% between 45 and 64.
Recreation
Jordan is home to the Jordan Brewers amateur baseball team, state champions in 1986, 1994, 2004, and 2019. Jordan High School athletic teams have different mascots for men (Hubmen), women (Jaguars) and cooperative sports (Panthers) with neighboring Belle Plaine. The Jordan Legion Baseball Team won the State Tournament four straight years from 2005 to 2008. It took 2nd place in 2010 and 3rd place in 2004 and 2009. Jordan's High School football team won the Minnesota State championship in 1983. It won the National/Regional Tournament three straight years between 2005 and 2007. It was runner-up in 2008. Jordan has a tradition of baseball. It is also home to a number of state parks and reserves. It also has a city park with a skateboard park. It has a national wildlife refuge and a state recreation area. The city has a large number of city parks, including Brentwood Park, Pekarna Park, and Log Cabin Cabin. The town also has several state parks, such as Holzer Park, Timberline Park and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. It hosts the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, which was established in 1973. It's home to Jordan's first high school football team, which won the state championship in 1982. The high school has a baseball team that won the national championship in 1986. The post #3 Jordan Legion baseball team has won four straight State Tournament titles since 2005. The Post #3 Legion Baseball team has also won three straight National Tournament crowns since 2007.
Places to worship
Hope Lutheran Church and Sand Creek Baptist Church are among the churches in the area. St. Paul's Lutheran Church is also in the community. Jordan Family Church is a small, non-denominational church. The church is located in the town of Jordan, about 30 miles north of the city of St. Louis. It is located on the banks of the Jordan River, which runs through the town. It was built in the 17th century and is known for its beautiful stained-glass windows. It also has a large outdoor area. The town has a number of other churches, including St. John's Catholic Church, which is located near the town's center. Sexual abuse scandal
In 1985, several adults in Scott County were accused of sexually abusing children, although only one, James Rud, was convicted. The case was the subject of the song titled "Jordan, Minnesota", by Chicago-based noise rock band Big Black, which appears on the 1986 album Atomizer. The incident is also featured in the film The Godfather: Part II, which was released in 2005. The film was based on the book The Godparents: The Untold Story of a Child Sex Abuse Scandal, written by David Perry and directed by Michael O'Neill. The book was released by Simon & Schuster in 2005, with a screenplay written by O’Neill and a screenplay by Perry. The movie was directed by Robert Redford, who was himself a child sex abuse victim in the 1970s and 1980s. The novel is based on a true story about a boy who was sexually abused by his stepfather. The boy's name was James Rud and he was sentenced to life in prison. The story was made into a film, The Godchildren: Part Two, which aired in 2005 and 2006. The actor James Rud was the only person convicted in the case; he was released from prison in 2007. The documentary was also released in 2008, and the film was adapted into a TV series, which airs on PBS stations in the U.S. and on PBS in the UK. In the film, Rud is sentenced to 30 years in prison, but he is released after serving just 12 months.
