Champlin is the name of two towns in Minnesota. The town of Champlin was established in 1859. In 1971, the two towns were combined to form the city of Champlin. The name Champlin comes from a U.S. Navy officer who fought in the First World War. He was killed in the Battle of the Bulge in 1812. The word Champlin means "champin" in German and "champlin" means "town" or "town of" in English. It is also known as "Champlin" because of its name of the town of the same name, which means "village" in the German language. The city's name is derived from the word "chauplin", which means town or town of, or "chamber" in French. It was named after a French priest who lived in the area in the early 1800s. He is believed to have been killed in a battle with the Native Americans in 1811. The village's name comes from the French word for "champs" or village, which is a place of refuge for Native Americans, and means "home" in Spanish. It means "place of refuge" in Latin, "champa" meaning "home". The town's name was first used to refer to a place where Native Americans lived, and later to a town where they lived.
