Harrison Township is a charter township of Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the population was 24,461. The 2008 Census Bureau Estimate places the population at 26,004. There are two unincorporated communities in the Township/CDP:. Lakeside is located a few miles southeast of Mount Clemens on the L'anse Creuse Bay of Lake St. Clair. Clair Haven is located on Campau Bay of the Lake Saint Clair (42°3500N 82°4725W);. Belvedere was a village at the mouth of the Clinton River. It was established in 1837 but flooded the following year and was abandoned. The township has a total area of 23.8 square miles (62 km²), of which 14.3 sq miles (37 km²) is land and 9.4sq miles (24km²) (39.79%) is water. Locally, Harrison Township is known as "BoatTown" due to the large number of marinas in the area.Selfridge Air National Guard Base is located in Harrison Township. The park contains nature trails, a nature center, playgrounds, beaches, pools, and picnic areas. It has docks available to boaters, and is a very popular attraction for many people in surrounding areas. The board of trustees of Harrison Charter Township is governed by a trustees:Supervisor Kenneth Verkest and Trustee Kenneth Verstkest.

Communities

Harrison Township is the primary city name, but also Harrison Twp, Selfridge, Selfridge Angb are acceptable city names or spellings, Sang, Selfridge Air Natl Guard on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Harrison Charter Township. Lakeside is located a few miles southeast of Mount Clemens on the L'anse Creuse Bay of Lake St. Clair. Clair Haven is located on Campau Bay of the Lake Saint Clair (42°3500N 82°4725W ; Elevation: 577 ft./176 m).Belvedere was a village at the mouth of the Clinton River. It was established in 1837 but flooded the following year and was abandoned. The area was projected in approximately 1900, mostly backed by financing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania capitalists who hoped to make it into a lake port for Mountclemens. However, it did not develop much more than having an interurban rail connection with the city. It is located at 42°3354 N 82°5021W and has an elevation of 577ft/176m. The Township/CDP has two unincorporated communities: Clair Haven and Lakeside. It has a population of 2,816. The township/C DP has an area of 3,814 square miles (7,813 square kilometers) and has a land area of 2.7 square miles. The population of the CDP is 2,715. The CDP has a total area of 1,822 square miles, or 3,716 square kilometers (2,717 square miles) and an area area of 5,722 square kilometers. It includes the towns of Saint Clair Haven, or Clair Haven; and Lake St Clair, or Saint Clair.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 23.8 square miles (62 km²) of which 14.3square miles (37km²) is land and 9.4square miles ("24 km²") (39.79%) is water. The township is home to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the state's oldest and largest public transit system. It is also home to New Jersey State Police, which has been around since the 1800s. The town has a population of 2,816. It was the site of New Jersey's first post-secondary school, which opened in 1858. It has been home to a number of schools, including New Jersey High School and the University of Pennsylvania. It also has a hospital, which was founded in 1881. The Township was named after the township's founder, who was born in New Jersey and moved to the area in 1808. It's also home of the New York State Police Department, which is based in the town of Middletown and has been there since 1852. It had a post office from 1858 to 1883. It now has its own post office, which closed in 1883 and reopened in 1894. It received a new post office in 1891, and a post station in 1892, when it was re-opened as a post-post station. The current post office was established in 1887, and the current post station was opened in 1896.

Harrison Township is known as "BoatTown, U.S.A." due to the large number of marinas. Lake Saint Clair Metropark is located on the shoreline of Harrison Township and Lake St. Clair. The park contains nature trails, a nature center, playgrounds, beaches, pools, and picnic areas. Selfridge Air National Guard Base is located in Harrison Township. The township is home to a number of sports teams, including the New Jersey Devils, New Jersey Nets, and the New York Knicks. It is also home to the University of Michigan, where the football team is known for its fast-paced, high-energy play. The university has a football stadium, which was built in the 1960s. The football team also has a track and field field, which is also located in the township. The high school football team was founded in the 1970s and is now known as the Harrison Township High School. The school has a baseball team, which has been nicknamed "The Mustangs" for their fast, fast, and fast-twitch defense. The basketball team has been known to score more goals than any other team in the state of Michigan. The soccer team has also been called "The St. Louis Cardinals" because of the team's success in the National Football League. The team also plays in the Michigan State University Women's Division. The men's team is called the Michigan Wolverines. The women's team has won the state championship three times in a row.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.48% of the population. The median income for a household in the Township was $51,892, and the median income. for a family was $67,129. The per capita income for the Township is $29,491. The township is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which connects to New Jersey and New Jersey via the Susquehanna River.

Government

The Charter Township of Harrison is governed by a board of trustees. The township is policed by the Macomb County Sheriff's Department with officers assigned to the area. Harrison Township is served by the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools. There are two fire stations, Station 1 is on Crocker Boulevard and Station 2 is on Jefferson Avenue between Metropolitan Parkway (16 Mile Road) and South River Road. The Township does not have its own police force, but it does have a fire department. The terms for these offices run until November 20, 2020. It is located in the U.S. state of Michigan and is part of the Michigan Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It has a population of about 3,000. It was founded in 1838.
