Armada (ar-MAY-duh) is a village in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,730 at the 2010 census. The 2018 Census Bureau Estimate places the population at 1,729. The village is located within Armada Township. It is best known for its annual Armada Fair. In a July 2019 Reader's Digest vote, Armada was selected as the "Nicest Place in Michigan" It was a finalist for the magazine's "50 Nicest Places in America" in the 1990s. In 2014, the village was shut down due to an investigation by Michigan State Police and the FBI of the murder of April Millsap, who was walking her dog on the Macomb Orchard Trail. In 2016 a jury found the 34-year-old defendant, James VanCallis, a man from St. Clair County, to be guilty of four counts associated with the murder. He was sentenced to life in prison. History
Armada Township was founded in 1832. The first school in Armada was a one-room schoolhouse located at Selleck's Corners. Armada's interest in education was demonstrated in the early 20th century by their applying to the Carnegie Foundation for matching funds in order to build and operate a public library. The Armada Free Public Library was built in 1915 and is still being used to provide library service in theEarly 21st century. In July 2019 Reader's Digest voted Armada as the "Nicest Place in Michigan" It was a finalist for the magazine's "50 Nicest Places in America" story. Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.76 square miles (1.97 km²), all land. The village is located on the Ohio River, which runs through the village. It is the only town in the state to have a population of more than 1,000. The population of the village was 1,071 at the 2010 U.N. Census. The town has a history dating back to the 18th century, when it was first settled. It was the site of the first recorded European settlement, in 1805, when the first European settlers arrived. It has since been home to a number of prominent families, including the French, Germans, and Italians. It also has been the location of the town's first post office, which was established in 1807, and the first post station, which opened in 1808. The current post office was established on September 1, 1808, and is located in the village of Stony Point. The area has an area of 1.97km² (0.76sq miles) and the population is 1,081. It had a population in the 2010 Census of 1,061. The U.A.E. Census estimates the village's population at 1,097. The United States Census Bureau says the village is made up of 903 people, with the majority of that population living in the town of St. Petersburg. The city has a population density of 1.077.

Attractions
A Halloween festival, Armada-geddon, is held in the village each year on the first Saturday in October. It celebrates the fall, fun, and all things spooky. The event includes a 5k-walk, run and shamble; a street fair with craft vendors and food, games for the kids and, in the evening, a lighted Halloween Parade. The village also has a country fair, which has been held in August since 1872. It is located on the banks of the River Thames, which runs through the village. The town is also home to a number of other tourist attractions, such as a museum, a zoo and a winery. It was founded in 1872 and is one of the oldest villages in the UK, with the first country fair being held in 1871. It has a population of 2,000, making it the second largest village in the country. It also has its own museum, which is open to the public, as well as other attractions such as an art gallery and a museum of the same name, which dates back to the 17th century. The country fair is held every year in August, and the village also hosts a Halloween festival in October, with a parade and street fair in the evenings. The festival is held on the same site as the village's traditional festival, the Armada Festival, which was first held in 1861. It's held every October, and has been running since then. It runs until the end of the year.
