Northwood is a city in Worth County, Iowa, United States, along the Shell Rock River. The population was 2,072 at the time of the 2020 census. Northwood was laid out in 1857 and platted in 1858. The longitude and latitude coordinates are 43.445783, -93.219123. The city has a total area of 3.76 square miles (9.74 km²), all land. It is part of the Mason City Micropolitan Statistical Area. The climate is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to cold (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system classifies Northwood as Koppen-like, meaning it has a warm-to-humid climate (Köppens: "Cfa" or "Csb"). The city is home to the Northwood-Kensett Community School District, which operates local public schools. The school district operates local schools in Northwood, Mason City, and surrounding areas. It also operates a public high school in Mason City. The high school is located in the town of Northwood and has an enrollment of about 1,500 students. It has a high school with a total enrollment of 1,800 students. The town has a low school graduation rate of less than 10%. History

Northwood was laid out in 1857 and platted in 1858. Northwood is located on the banks of the Northumberland River. The town has a population of about 1,000 people. It is located in the town of Northwood, a suburb of New York City, New York State and the City of Brotherly Love, New Jersey. The Northwood area was first platted around 1857, and the town was named Northwood after Northwood in the U.S. state of Virginia. It was later called Northwood by the community's residents. The community is now home to the Northwood School District, which was established in 1859, and Northwood High School, which opened in 1872.
