Sugar Grove is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 8,997, and in 2018 the estimated population was 9,803. Sugar Grove is located within a band of heavy growth on the western edge of the Chicago metropolitan area, stretching from approximately the Huntley area in McHenry County to the New Lenox area in Will County. It is accessible by one interstate highway (Interstate 88), one US highway (US Route 30), and two state highways (Illinois Route 47 and Illinois Route 56). Route 56 connects the central part of Sugar Grove to Interstate 88. The Virgil Gilman Trail is a bicycle trail connecting the city of Aurora to the north. The BNSF Railway's mainline Chicago mainline is situated on the northwest side of the village. The village is located at 41°46N 88°27W (41.772529, -88.442374). It is bordered to the east by the city. of Aurora and to the west by the village of Big Rock. It nearly encircles the unincorporated community of Prestbury. The city of Yorkville is to the south. Downtown Chicago is 46 miles (74 km) to theEast. According to the 2010 Census, Sugar Grove has a total area of 10.485 square miles (27.16 km²) (or 99.86%) of which 10.47 sq miles (27.12km²) is land and 0.015 sq km² (or 0.14%) is water.

Geography

Sugar Grove is located in southern Kane County at 41°46N 88°27W (41.772529, -88.442374). It is bordered to the east by the city of Aurora and to the west by the village of Big Rock. Sugar Grove adopted its first comprehensive land use plan on January 12, 1981. According to the 2010 census, Sugar Grove has a total area of 10.485 square miles (27.16 km²) (or 99.86%) are land and 0.015 square mile (0.04 km²), (or 0.14%) are water. It is located within a band of heavy growth on the western edge of the Chicago metropolitan area, stretching from approximately the Huntley area in McHenry County to the New Lenox area in Will County. The city of Yorkville is to the south. Downtown Chicago is 46 miles (74 km) to theEast. The village of Prestbury is to its south. The unincorporated community of Prestburger is to Sugar Grove's north. The town of Yorkfield is to Yorkville's east. The state of Illinois has a population of 2,816. The county seat of Aurora is in Kane County, Illinois, about 30 miles (48 km) south of Sugar Grove. The U.S. State of Illinois is in Cook County, about 20 miles (32 km) east of the town. The community of Yorkboro is in Sangamon County, and the state of Indiana is in Ogden County.

It is located near the junction of the New Jersey Turnpike and the New York Turnpikes. The U.N. State Line is just south of the Village. The town's name is derived from the word "New Jersey" or "New York" which means "the state of New Jersey" and "the city of New York" The village has a population of about 3,000 people, with about 1,300 of those living in households.

The Chicago River runs south and east of the village, connecting the village with the Chicago metropolitan area and the rest of the state. The city of Chicago is located in the north, and the village is in the south, with most of its land lying in the Chicago suburbs. The town is home to a number of businesses, including a bank, a restaurant, and a bank. It is also the home of the Sugar Grove High School, which was founded in the early 1900s. Waubonsee Community College, a two-year public community college, is located on Route 47 in the northern part of Sugar Grove.
