Keyesport is a village in Bond and Clinton counties, Illinois, United States. The population was 4060 at the 2020 census. The town is situated on the western shore of Carlyle Lake. It was named in honor of its postmaster, Thomas Keyes. It is located at 38°4427N 89°1637W (38.740789, -89.277065).According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Keyesport has a total area of 0.74 square miles (1.92 km²) (or 97.69%) is land and 0.02 sq miles (0.05 km²), (or 2.31%) is water. The village's age distribution consisted of 21.7% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 21.2% from 25 to 44, 34.3%. from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the village was $33,629. Males had a median income of $21,250 versus $19,390 for females. About 10.9% of families and 28.7%. of the village were below the poverty line, including 44.0% of those under age 18 and 22.2%. of those over age 65 or over over over. over. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.74% of the population. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was2.54. The population was 406 as of the 2010 census. The 2010 census reported that the village had a population of 406, with 232 people living in it. It is located on the U.S.-Wisconsin border and is on the Wisconsin-Wisconsin Turnpike. The town's name is derived from the word "turnpike" which means "road" or "path" in German. It was the site of a U.N. World War II-era mission to the region, which was called the "Turnpike Post".
