Kurtistown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 1,298 at the 2010 census, up from 1,157 at the 2000 census. The community is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii at 19°3526N 155°413W (19.590584, -155.070142) It is bordered to the northeast by Keaau, to the southeast by Orchidlands Estates, and to the south by Hawaiian Acres. Hawaii Route 11 passes through the community, leading north 10 miles (16 km) to Hilo and southwest 20 miles (32km) to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Kurtistown CDP has a total area of 5.9 square miles (15.4 km²), all of it land. The median income for a household in the CDP at the2000 census was $46,012, and the median income in 2000 was $51,176. About 6.5% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line in 2000, including 7.2% of those under age 18 and 2.0% ofThose age 65 or over. The average household size was 2.73, with the average family size at 2.74. For every 100 females, there were 99.4 males, and for every 100 males there were 100.6 females.

Kurtistown is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii at 19°3526N 155°413W (19.590584, -155.070142) It is bordered to the northeast by Keaau, to the southeast by Orchidlands Estates, and to the south by Hawaiian Acres. Hawaii Route 11 passes through the community, leading north 10 miles (16 km) to Hilo and southwest 20 miles (32km) to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Kurtistown CDP has a total area of 5.9 square miles (15.4 km²), all of it land. The community is located at 19.3526 N 155° 413W. It has a population of 2,816. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the CDP's population at 2,715. It is located in the eastern part of the state of Hawaii, on the eastern tip of the main island of Oahu. The CDP is located near the town of Hilo, which is located to the west of the community. The population of KurtistOWN is 2,082. The area has an estimated population of 1,716. It was the site of the World War II Battle of the Bulge, which took place in World War I. The Battle was the first battle of the Hawaiian Islands, which began in 18th century Hawaii. The Hawaiian Islands are home to some of the world's largest volcanoes.
