Roswell

Roswell is a city in northern Fulton County, Georgia, United States. At the official 2010 census, the city had a population of 88,346. The 2020 estimated population was 94,884, making Roswell the state's ninth largest city. A close suburb of Atlanta, Roswell has an affluent historic district. The city was captured by Union forces under the leadership of General Kenner Garrard during the Civil War. The mill was burned, but the houses were left standing. Roswell residents desired a local government, they submitted a city charter for incorporation to the Georgia General Assembly on February 16, 1854. The area was part of Cobb County when first settled, and the county seat of Marietta was a four-hour (one-way) horseback ride to the west. In 1870, the proportion of African-Americans decreased from 27% to 23%. During those years, Fulton County more than doubled in population from 14,427 to 33,336. The effects of dramatic African-American migration can be seen by the increase in Fulton County from 20% in 1860 to 45% in 1870. In 1931, the economic conditions in Roswell's neighboring county, Milton, drove the neighboring county's population to more than double in population, from 13,814 to 23,816. The population of Milton, Georgia increased by more than 20,000 in the same period, from 6,813 to 13,917. The county seat is Milton, which is now the city of Atlanta.

History

Roswell is the primary city name, but also Mountain Park are acceptable city names or spellings, Sandy Plains on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Roswell, Georgia. More than one thing can be said to be more than the current state of a certain town or county. This is more than a "can be" of something, more than one can be a "vast" or "small" amount of something. There is more to be said than the number of this or that, but it is also more than just that. This was the first of a series of what is now known as the "Vast" and "Small" in the area of what was once known as "The Great Depression" This is the first time the "Great Depression" has been compared to the modern-day equivalent of the "Age of Innocence" of the Roman god of the underworld. The first thing to be noted is that this is not the first or the last, but the first and only of a number of things that could be called "Vessels of the World" The first is a number that can be taken to be the number of the number of the vast and number of the world's greatest countries that have been taken from this world to this. The second is a number that is more than the number of the nation's largest state and the third is the numbers of its greatest number, which is the size of the world's largest island. The fourth is the number that would be the difference between this and the greater's century and its greatest. The fifth is the "greatest" is the greatest, which would be the greatest, and the largest in the world. The U.N. has declared Roswell to be one of the world's most livable cities, with more than 2,000 people living in the city. It also has the second-largest airport in the world, with a capacity of 4,000 vehicles per hour (4,000/hour). The city's population is 2,788. It had the highest rate of obesity in the nation in the year 2000, with an average of 2.7 per cent.

Demographics

In the last official U.S. Census of 2010, Roswell had a population of 88,346. In the preceding census of 2000, there were 79,334 people, 30,207 households, and 20,933 families residing in the city. 16.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race; a majority of them were of Mexican origin (11.5% of total population) The median income for a household in Roswell was $73,469, and the median family income was $103,698. The average income for households was $106,219 and the average household income for families was $123,481. The per capita income for the city was $40,106. About 3.2% of families and 5.0% of those under age 18 were below the poverty line. Roswell median housing value (2010) was $100,000. The median home value (2000) was $100,500. The city's median age was 37.2 years, with 24.4% under the age of 18, and 35.1% between the ages of 25 and 44. It has a population density of 2,086.5 inhabitants per square mile (805.6/km²) The city has a median household income of $103.7 million (2006) and a median house price of $99,000 (2006). The city is located on the New Mexico Turnpike, which runs through the town of Roswell.

Economy

As of the 2006 census, one third of Roswell's 5,000 registered business were home based. The city's largest employers are The Kimberly Clark Corporation, Wellstar North Fulton Hospital, Harry's Farmers Market, and The City Of Roswell. The largest industries were retail, technology, food services, wholesale trade and health care. Many popular Georgia businesses like Moe's Southwest Grill, Chick-fil-A and Heel Sew Quik operate multiple locations in Roswell, Georgia. The Consulate-General of Honduras in Atlanta is located at Suite 3 in 600 Houze Way inRoswell. Many Roswell residents work in nearby Atlanta. Roswell is home to the University of Georgia, which has a chapter of the College of Business and Economics. The University of Atlanta also has a branch of the Georgia College of Art and Design, which was founded in 1883. The College of Arts and Design is a division of Georgia State University, which opened its doors in 1887. The City of Atlanta was founded as the seat of the State of Georgia in 1881. It was the first city in the state to have its own city hall, and has since been the city's seat of government. It is located on the Georgia Turnpike, which runs through Roswell and into Atlanta. It has also been the site of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Georgia Supreme Court, which have both ruled in favor of the state's right to remain in the Union. The state's largest employer is The Kimberly-Clark Corporation, with more than 1,000 employees.

Arts and culture

Roswell is home to the largest Memorial Day Ceremony in Georgia. Roswell is the site of several festivals and parades. The Roswell Library System operates the Roswell Branch and the East Roswell branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. The town has a number of museums, parks, and other tourist attractions. It is also home to Roswell Mill, a historic mill that dates back to the early 1800s. The city is also the location of Roswell River National Recreation Area and the Chattahoochee River Nature Center. It also hosts the Georgia State Museum of History and Culture and the National Museum of American History and Ethnology at the University of Georgia at Roswell. It has two public libraries, one in Roswell and the other in Atlanta, Georgia. The community also hosts a wine festival and a youth day parade and festival each year. It's home to several festivals, parades and other events, including the annual Roswell Youth Day Parade and Festival and the annual Fireworks Extravaganza on July 4th. In the summer, Roswell hosts the annual Summer Wine Festival, which runs from July 4 to October 4th, and the Summer Music Festival, held in the fall. It was founded in the early 1900s by Roswell's first African-American mayor, William "Bill" Smith, who was a member of the local Kiwanis Club. The current mayor is the son of the late Roswell resident and former mayor of the same name.

Sports

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Atlanta, founded by GM Ben Finegold, is located in Roswell, Georgia. The Chess Club is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization. Parks and recreation

The city maintains more than 900 acres (3.6 km²) of parkland, as well as three historic house museums. A branch of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, a component of the National Park System, is located in Roswell at Vickery Creek. The city is home to the National Museum of American History, which is open to the public. It is also home to three historic houses, one of which is a National Register of Historic Places. The Roswell Public Library has a collection of more than 1,000 books, many of which were written in the 19th century. The library also has a museum of American history, which was opened in 1872. The museum is open for public tours.
